Attentive Agency
BMO Media is an Attentive agency and certified Attentive partner for DTC brands that send SMS and email at volume. We set up identity, AI Journeys and shared channel rules so each shopper hears from the right channel at the right moment, without duplicate messages. The first step is a free audit of your Attentive account.
What we do
Why an Attentive specialist, not a generalist
Attentive now runs SMS, email, identity and AI journeys in one platform. The hard part is no longer sending; it is deciding what each channel does for each shopper, and when to stay quiet. Attentive's own peak data shows why: during Cyber Week 2025, SMS sent alongside email converted 18.4% better and earned 14.9% more revenue per click than SMS sent alone (Attentive Cyber Week 2025 recap, December 2025).
That lift comes from orchestration, not volume. Which channel speaks first on a cart abandon? Who is held back from today's campaign? How many messages can a newly recognized visitor take before opting out? Does the credited revenue survive a holdout? A generalist switches on every AI feature and reports the revenue Attentive attributes to it. We set the rules first, let the AI work inside them, and measure against a holdout.
Darc Sport shows the approach: we launched SMS on Attentive while moving email from Mailchimp to Klaviyo, and ran both channels as one program. In two months SMS subscribers nearly doubled to 41,000 and SMS revenue rose 29.8%.
What's included
What we do inside Attentive
Account audit: revenue per message by journey, how much site traffic Attentive recognizes, and every trigger where both channels hit one shopper.
Channel rules per trigger, such as email first on a browse abandon and a text only for shoppers who did not click, because 81% of consumers say they ignore irrelevant messages (Attentive 2025 Consumer Trends Report, April 2025, vendor-commissioned).
Shared suppression and frequency caps across both channels, so a shopper inside a journey skips the same-day campaign; our email and SMS orchestration playbook lays out the rule set.
Sign-up forms with separate email and SMS consent language, judged on revenue per new subscriber, since one who opts out on the first text is a cost.
Identity setup: Attentive Signal configured across the site so browse, cart and checkout journeys fire for returning shoppers who would otherwise stay anonymous.
Email migration into Attentive when it makes sense: authenticated sending domain, volume warmed in stages and flows rebuilt in revenue order, with the old platform live until Attentive matches it.
AI guardrails: we write down approved claims, discount limits and excluded products, apply them through Attentive's brand controls, and review AI Journeys and AI Pro output before launch.
Monthly deliverability review on both channels: carrier filtering and link reputation for texts, inbox placement for email, as in our wider SMS marketing work.
Attentive features we lean on
AI Journeys: triggered messages where Attentive tailors copy, product picks, images and timing to each shopper's behavior. We run it on checkout, cart and browse triggers with a holdout, so attributed revenue gets checked against real lift.
AI Pro: per-subscriber send times, audience refinement that adds likely buyers and removes unlikely ones, and brand-voice copy. We start with send time on campaigns and test refined audiences against the full segment.
AI Grow: launched in August 2026, it times sign-up invitations from visitor behavior, on top of your existing forms, and tests itself against your current setup. We judge it on revenue per new subscriber, not raw sign-ups.
Attentive Signal: the identity layer that ties cookies, devices, phone numbers and emails to one profile. Recognizing more shoppers means messaging more of them, so we tighten frequency caps the day it goes live.
Attentive email marketing: email on the same profile as SMS, which makes channel rules and suppression native. Strong when your current email setup is light; weaker when deep Klaviyo flows feed other tools.
Switch on first: Attentive Signal, because AI Journeys and AI Pro can only personalize for shoppers Attentive recognizes.
When Attentive is the right platform
Attentive earns its cost at scale; on a small list, a lighter tool often wins.
Platform | Best fit | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
Attentive | Brands sending SMS and email at volume, where identity, AI journeys and one profile across channels pay back on a large list | Custom-quoted pricing, and more platform than a small or new list will use |
Postscript | Shopify brands that run SMS as its own revenue line, with published per-message pricing and testing inside flows | SMS-first: its email product is newer, so most brands still run email elsewhere and sync suppression and attribution |
Klaviyo SMS | Brands already on Klaviyo email that want SMS on the same profile and flow builder | Built email-first, so SMS-specific tooling is lighter than on SMS-first platforms at high volume |
Omnisend | Smaller and growing stores that want email and SMS on one bill with quick setup | Identity, segmentation and testing depth thin out at enterprise volume |
Pick Attentive when the list is large, both channels matter, and you want one profile driving them.
If SMS is new or small, start lighter and move once texting earns its own platform.

Results
Results from our SMS and email programs
All three programs below pair SMS with email. Darc Sport's SMS and YoungLA's rewards messaging run on Attentive; James Michelle runs on Klaviyo.
Darc Sport, SMS on Attentive with email on Klaviyo: in two months SMS subscribers nearly doubled to 41,000 and SMS revenue rose 29.8%. Campaign texts earned $7.89 per message sent, and revenue from SMS automation sequences rose 80%. Across the program, total orders rose 12% and conversion rate rose 11%.
YoungLA rewards, loyalty program messaging on Attentive: 118,831 program messages across the US and EU in the first 30 days, with the welcome series driving 60.6% of program revenue and 64.8% of conversions.
James Michelle, on Klaviyo, email and SMS run together: flow-driven email revenue rose 202% and SMS flow revenue 235% year over year, while SMS campaign revenue rose 111% on 3% less campaign volume.
We report results like these against each brand's own baseline and a holdout, not against a platform average.
Process
How we work in an Attentive account
Audit, week one: revenue per message by journey and campaign, identity coverage, opt-outs per send, consent records, quiet hours, the AI features already switched on and every trigger where SMS and email reach the same shopper. The findings are yours whether or not we work together.
Scope: a written plan that sets the channel role for each trigger, decides whether email should live in Attentive or stay where it is, and picks which AI features earn a place, with an owner on every item. If email should stay in Klaviyo, the plan says so.
Build in revenue order: Signal and suppression first, then checkout, cart and browse journeys, then welcome and post-purchase, then segmented campaigns. AI Journeys runs against a holdout from the first send, and every AI rule is written down before launch.
Report monthly: revenue per message by channel, incremental revenue against the holdout next to Attentive's attributed figure, net list growth, opt-outs by channel, and the tests planned for next month, with a plain-English note on what changed and why.
Who it's for
Who our Attentive agency works best with
Brands on Attentive, or choosing it, that send SMS and email to a large list and feel the channels working against each other: duplicate messages, revenue counted twice, AI features switched on with nobody checking them. Mid-market and enterprise DTC teams with drops, launches and heavy promotional calendars get the most from our Attentive SMS marketing work. We are a poor fit for a store starting SMS on a small list, where Attentive's scale features have little to work with, or for teams that want more sends rather than better ones. If you are weighing a rebuild or a switch, book an Attentive audit.
