Yotpo Agency
BMO Media is a Yotpo agency for Shopify and DTC brands: we design and run your Yotpo loyalty program, referrals and reviews. Yotpo's native email and SMS ended in December 2025, so we wire every points, tier, referral and review event into Klaviyo, Attentive or Postscript. Step one: a free audit of your points economics and flows.
What we do
Why a Yotpo specialist, not a generalist
In August 2025 Yotpo announced it would sunset its native Email and SMS products at the end of December 2025 (Yotpo blog, August 2025). For any brand on Yotpo Loyalty, one tool became two systems. Yotpo keeps the points ledger, VIP tiers, referral codes and reviews, and still sends review requests. Klaviyo, Attentive, Omnisend or Postscript now sends the loyalty messages. Most of the revenue, and most of the failures, sit in the sync between the two.
The accounts we inherit show the same faults. Balance reminders quote a number the customer already spent. Tier upgrades never reach the messaging platform as an event, so nobody hears they moved up. Review requests fire on order date, before the box arrives. And nobody has priced the points liability, so the reward ladder was set by feel.
Antavo's survey of 3,000 marketers puts average loyalty program ROI at 5.3x (Antavo Global Customer Loyalty Report 2026, February 2026). In the YoungLA rewards program we launched across the US and EU (its messaging runs on Attentive; the case study does not name the loyalty app), revenue per message rose 136% between the $10 and $25 credit reminder tiers. A generalist installs the widget. A Yotpo specialist builds the event layer that turns a balance into an order.
What's included
What we do inside Yotpo
Points economics modeled first with our loyalty program ROI method: earn rate, point value, expected redemption and breakage, so outstanding liability is a number finance signed off, not one found at year end.
VIP tier thresholds set against your AOV and order frequency, so the first tier is reachable on a normal second order and the top tier rewards customers who already carry your margin.
An event map from Yotpo into Klaviyo, Attentive or Postscript: points earned, balance, tier change, reward redeemed, referral completed and review submitted, each landing as a profile property or a flow trigger.
Rebuilds of the loyalty flows Yotpo email and SMS used to send: welcome, balance reminders, near-tier nudges, points expiry, birthday and win-back, with SMS consent records exported and checked before anything sends.
Referral rules with fraud controls: the reward releases on the friend's fulfilled first order, not a signup, with a minimum order value and a review of advocates whose referrals share an address.
Review requests timed to delivery rather than order date, with points for photo reviews priced into the model and star ratings pulled into browse and cart abandonment emails.
Loyalty Points Drop campaigns to lapsed members, with a short redemption window and a holdout to show whether the points created orders or paid for ones you would have had anyway.
Monthly reporting on member against non-member repeat rate, redemption rate, outstanding liability and revenue per message for each loyalty flow.
Yotpo features we lean on
Loyalty & Referrals: earn rules for orders, reviews, birthdays and referrals in one ledger. We weight earning toward the behaviors that move repeat rate and keep non-purchase actions cheap.
VIP tiers: tiers unlock access first, such as early drops and free shipping, and deeper discounts last, so the top tier protects margin instead of spending it.
Loyalty Points Drop: expiring bonus points sent to a segment you choose, on top of existing balances. We use it to restart lapsed members before a sale, with a short redemption window and a holdout. Drop points do not count toward VIP tiers, so we never use it for tier nudges.
Reviews & UGC: photo and video reviews collected after delivery. 66% of shoppers hesitate to buy a product with fewer than five reviews (Yotpo 2025 AI Shopper Behavior Report, August 2025), so requests go first to products still under five.
Messaging integrations: Yotpo loyalty and review data passed to Klaviyo, Attentive or Postscript. That is where the program now speaks to members, so we test every property and trigger before launch.
Switch on first: the event sync into your messaging platform. A program members never hear about earns nothing.
When Yotpo is the right platform
Here is how Yotpo compares with the loyalty and reviews tools we run most often.
Platform | Best fit | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
Yotpo | Brands that want loyalty, referrals and reviews from one vendor on one customer record | Native Email and SMS ended in December 2025, so loyalty messages depend on a sync someone builds and maintains; review requests still send from Yotpo |
Rivo | Shopify brands that want points, referrals, VIP tiers and customer accounts in one Shopify-built app | No reviews product, so reviews need a second app; built for Shopify stores only |
Smile.io | Smaller stores that want simple points and referrals live quickly | VIP tiers start on the Growth plan and API access on Smile Plus, so tier-led or custom programs need a higher plan |
LoyaltyLion | Programs that need detailed earn rules, tiers and loyalty data inside Klaviyo | More configuration, and reviews still need a separate tool |
Okendo | Review-led brands that want reviews, UGC and loyalty in one Shopify suite | When loyalty is the main lever, a dedicated loyalty tool usually offers more tier depth |
Keep Yotpo when reviews and loyalty genuinely need one vendor and your messaging platform already earns. If loyalty is the lever and you are on Shopify, Rivo is the platform we recommend first (see our Rivo loyalty work), paired with an app from our Shopify review apps comparison. Either way, choose on who owns the data your messages read, not on the widget.
Results
Results from our loyalty programs
Figures are from the linked case studies, and our loyalty program work covers the full method. They come from loyalty programs we run across platforms.
YoungLA rewards, launched in the US and EU at once: 118,831 program messages in the first 30 days, with the welcome series driving 60.6% of program revenue and 64.8% of conversions.
YoungLA point balance reminders: 38.4% of program revenue, and revenue per message rose 136% between the $10 and $25 credit reminder tiers.
YoungLA tier upgrade emails: 52.70% open rate and 15.18% click rate.
Liquid Death, on Klaviyo: 15% of non-buyer profiles converted into customers in the first 3 months, the first-order work every loyalty program needs before it has members to reward.
Process
How we work in a Yotpo account
Audit, week one: view-only access to Yotpo and your messaging platform. We read earn rules, tiers, redemption rate, outstanding points, referral and review settings, and every event the two systems pass. You get the three biggest leaks with the revenue each one costs, and you keep the audit.
Scope: a program redesign, a rebuild of the flows Yotpo email and SMS used to send, review collection, or all three. We price the points liability of any change and set the build order before you approve it.
Build in revenue order: the event sync and the loyalty welcome first, then balance reminders and near-tier nudges, then referrals and review requests. Each flow launches against a holdout so its lift is measured, not assumed, and nothing reaches members until test profiles show the right balance.
Report monthly: member against non-member repeat rate and time between orders, redemption and breakage, liability outstanding, revenue per message by loyalty flow, and referral customers with their payback. When members stop outspending non-members, we change the program, not the chart.
Who it's for
Who our Yotpo agency works best with
Yotpo serves 35K+ brands (yotpo.com, October 2026). The ones we help most are Shopify and DTC brands on Yotpo Loyalty or Reviews whose messages went quiet after the email and SMS sunset, brands with a points balance nobody has priced, and brands in repeat categories like apparel, beauty and supplements, where reviews win the first order and loyalty wins the second.
We are a poor fit for brands selling one high-ticket item on a long buying cycle, which need referrals more than points, and for anyone who wants a widget installed without touching the flows around it. Otherwise, book a free Yotpo audit and we will send back your program's three biggest leaks.
